Stephen is a busy member of Austin’s political, arts and social scenes. He volunteers regularly with such worthy organizations as the Octopus Club, AIDS Services of Austin, The Hill Country Ride for AIDS, Equality Texas and Zach Scott Theater.  Stephen also works with the Austin Film Society on their annual star-studded Texas Film Hall of Fame Gala.  Professionally, he works as a consultant to Austin’s legal community.  

A native of Tyler, Texas, Stephen graduated from Bullard High School, and went on to receive a BA in Political Science/History at Texas State University in San Marcos.  He and his husband Mark Erwin have been together since 1994.  Twice, they have been named to the Austin American-Statesman’s “Fortunate 500” list and in 2008 they were named “Best AIDS Fundraising Couple” in the Austin Chronicle’s “Best of Austin Awards”.  Mark and Stephen live in Austin’s Terrytown neighborhood with their two Welsh Corgis Bart and Tony.
